I need to refresh my memory on the last section of the Wildwood Trail. So I did an out and back from Germantown Rd. to Newberry Rd. It was about 11 mile and took about four and half hour. Cold winter weather but was dry. On the way out had a lot of trail runners go by me who were out to do the Wildwood trail in a day. On the way back I ran into Rex leading a Mazama hike and Sue, another Mazama hike leader, also scouting the trail.
I found a lot of trail work underway close to Newberry Trailhead. Nice to see this end of the Wildwood Trail getting some attention.
Heading out from Germantown Rd. with sun just coming up.
The maps along the trail were just put up a couple of years ago and already they are wearing out.
Wildwood crossing Fire Lane 10.
Not many folks in the lot yet.
Heading down Newton Rd.
Junction with Wildwood Trail.
Back on Wildwood Trail from Newton Rd.
Rather drab this time of year.
Under the powerlines just before BPA Road.
On the Wildwood after Fire Lane 15. This is the section I have not been on in many years.
Erosion is exposing tree roots along the trail.
A great section of trail improvement.
The 30 mile point on Wildwood.
Lot of cars parked from runners doing the Wildwood.
Ending Point of the Wildwood unless you are starting here.
Base Rock over roots. It was nice to see all of the work that is being done on this section of the trail.
They put a lot of work into this part of the trail.
Wire mesh put down so you don’t slide on the boards.
Big Roots on the trail. This section they had not got to yet but it was mark to be worked on.
This is the muddiest part of the whole trail and no sign it will be worked on.
Heading back along the trail.
A nice section of trail
By the time I got back to lots were full.
Full on both sides of the road.
