I got out for a short but exhausting paddle today to try out my new used kayak. I put in under the St. Johns Bridge and paddled up to Swan Island on a smoked filled day. My new kayak is long, narrow, fiberglass and very tippy. I had to stay focus on my balance or I would roll over. It will take several more outing before I fell comfortable in this boat. Not many photos as I was finding trying to keep from rolling over and taking photos did not go together.
I have not been out for a paddle in over a year and found out how out of shape my upper body is. If I want to do any long-distance paddling I will need to do some training paddles to get ready for it.
