Trip to Central Oregon

This was a three day trip to Central Oregon with our base in Sunriver. We set out to see a lot of places but knew we had to stay flexible going this in the Fall Season.

Day One

The first day was seeing some site by way of the Clear Water Cutoff and the McKenzie Pass. Stopping spots – Historic Fish Lake Remount Depot, Clear Lake, Shahalie Falls, Former Hidden Pond, Scott Lake, Dee Wright Observatory, Three Creek Brewing and final to our Base Camp at Sunriver.

Day Two

The key idea for this trip was to see Newberry Carter which none of us had been to before. We did make it there but because of the weather we only saw fraction of what we had hope to. We did see Paulina Falls, Paulina Lake, the close Visitor Center, a little bit of the Obsidian Flow Trail, and East Lake. Because of the  weather we went to plan B and headed to lower elevation. We drove into Bend and Pilot Butte, Mirior Pond, Drake Park and Bend Brewing Company. From here we went back to Sunriver to explore around there. Jeanette helped us track down the historic Great Hall and we walked around the Village at Sunriver. We finished up at Sunriver Brewing Co. Pub.

Day Three

We packed up and head to Camp Sherman. On the way we finally got a view of mountain at the Three Sisters Viewpoint. In the Metolius Basin we visited the Headwaters of the Metolius River, the Camp Sherman Store, the Metolius River, and the Wizard Falls Hatchery. We drove back to Sisters and had little picnic in the Village Green City Park before heading home.
