Lori and I got out for a short and very wet hike of Umbrella Falls and Sahalie Falls. The book has this hike at 4.7 miles and 800 ft. gain so a short hike. The plan was to go and do another short hike after this one but I decide we were wet enough and we call it a day. We both found improvements that we need to make to our gear for wet weather hiking.
This was the long way to Umbrella Falls as you can almost drive right to it. We followed a trail that took us through Mt. Hood Meadows ski area. This open us up to see lots of Fall color but the weather prevented us from seeing Mt. Hood. Many years ago this was one of the first hikes I did with the Mazamas. It was nice remembering when.
