Lori and I did an exploratory trip to Olallie Lake on Sunday. We had a long drive and did a short hike. Our timing was good catching the area with great Fall color, reasonable weather, the last day the Olallie Lake store was open and just before the area is buried under snow for the winter. We checked out Olallie Meadow on our drive in and did a short hike around Olallie and Monon Lake. I had long heard about this place but I had never been here. One reason for this is road in has a reputation for needing a high clearance vehicle and the reputation is well deserved. We stopped for pizza on our way back home and found our favorite eatery in that area was closing. Another victim of last summers forest fires.
