Our the second and third days of our trip we completed the loop around the Olympic Peninsula and return to Portland. We start by visiting Lake Crescent Lodge for breakfast. After checking out the lodge we went a short ways to see the historic rangers cabin and then on to do a short hike back to see Sol Duc Falls. We must have been visiting the falls at the wrong time of year because nether of us were impressed by it. Then it was a long drive to the west side of the Olympics to see the Hoh Rain Forest. We did a walk on the Trail of Moss but again not a good time to see it. However we did see some great examples of nurse logs. We continued on down the coast to Quinault Lodge. Now this impressed use. This was our destination for the evening and dinner. On arriving we set about exploring the lodge and area around it. We had a late supper and enjoyed a beautiful sunset. The next morning we were up and did a short hike on one of the trails by the lodge. There is a network of trail by the lodge that allows you to do a mile to six miles hike. After our hike we were back on the road heading south and back to Portland. Along the way we took a side trip see Ocean Shore and a new casino near by it. I had never been there before and Nick on some of his geology lectures has talk about it and how it will be underwater when the big one hits. So we lucked out on the weather and that help make this a great trip.
