My knee was feeling well enough to try a short easy hike to one of my favorite places, Indian Heaven Wilderness. I did my standard route of going in at Placid Lake Trailhead and taking trail 29A (maintained and unmaintained section) to Big Meadow where it meets the abandon Cascade Crest Trail. I went at a very easy pace with a number of stops. So it took all day to do the hike. My GPS had that hike at about 9 miles and 750 ft. Elevation gain. I stuck to doing this as an out and back on the trail but so wanted to wander off trail to new places. It was good weather and mostly had the trail to myself all day. A good number of Blue and huckleberries on the bushes but they were not sweet yet. Just of hint of fall color starting to show but it could be another month before peak season.
