It was a cold, wet, cloudy Sunday morning in May and Lori, Audrey and I set out for a conditioning from Wahkeena Trailhead to Devils Rest. On a sunny day Wahkeena Creek is one of the most scenic and photographed places in the Columbia Gorge. This morning we just glanced at the beauty from under dripping hat brims as we worked to keep our rapid accent going up to Devils Rest. We made it to Devils Rest in two and half hours and found no trolls hiding among the rocks on this trip. Not many photos on this dark, rain-soaked day. I did manage to get a few on the way back down as we had a some moment of sun. This hike was 7.4 mile and 2400 ft. elevation gain.
