The final day was breakfast again at Paradise Inn then check out. We had planned on doing a hike to Comet Falls before heading back to Portland so we wanted to get on the trail early. Good thing we did as by the time be hit the trail the parking lot was full. The trail is not long, about six miles round trip but has a steady up hill climb over a rocky trail. We had mushrooms out everywhere. When we got to our turn around point we found we had two waterfall. One on Fall Creek that seems to have no name and Comet Falls. So it was a good reward after the rocky trail.

We finished up our outing with lunch at the Copper Creek Inn. I splurged and had a chocolate milkshake that was great. So then it was just the long drive home. We had a good adventure and felt we were lucky to not get rained on.

We got a window seat for breakfast so we could watch the fog roll by.

By this time we left for our hike the Comet Fall parking lot was full.

I have never seen a log staircase like this on a trail before.

This thing had some big steps that I knew would be a challenge for Lori.

We had to go through an area that was very rocky. I was a good place to spot pikas.

I was glad there was a trail through this area and we did not have to scramble it.

You pass Bloucher Falls on the Falls Creek just 200 ft. before Comet Falls comes into view.

We made it to a point where we could see Comet Falls and made this our turn around point.

I think these are King Bolete mushrooms. I am just starting to learn some of the types of mushroom we have in the northwest and there were plenty out for me to practice on.
