Circumstances ended up leading me to do a hike up to Benson Plateau. I had not been up this trail (part of it the PCT) since before the fire and was interested in seeing what the damage and recovery was. This is also a good conditioning hike at 16 miles and 4200 total gain with 8.5 hours on the trail. It was great weather with sun and mild temperatures. There was burn on much of the slopes but mostly under-story burning. Rooted forest floor plants had mostly regrown on most of trail less the vine maples so no Fall color. Still mushrooms out but in the their final days.
