First time for me to hike up to Silver Star Mt. Our timing was excellent with flowers in bloom and a fairly clear day. We needed two SUVs this time with seven of us going. A long stretch of gravel road left the SUVs covered in dust. There were many rocky stretches of trail. The trail follow an old forest service road that is a part time stream bed. The views from on top were excellent with seeing south to Three Sisters and north to Rainier. This was a short hike at only 6.5 mile but had some good elevation gain at 2400 ft. The hike took a long time to do with all of the stopping to enjoy the views, the flowers and even some ripe huckleberries.
