Lori and I got out of a nice hike up the west section of the Salmon River by Mt. Hood. We had nice Fall weather with cool temp and no rain. It has been so long since I have done this section of trail it was like doing a new hike. It is mostly a walk in the woods but with river views and at the end a nice view point. Lori found out from other hikers that we had just missed the salmon run but we did see a few salmon carcasses allow the way. I new this trail was popular with backpackers and seeing all of the campsites along the way I can see way. My GPS had the hike at 9 miles and about 1000 ft. gain.
