In 2019 we tried doing this route at Pocket Creek and the snow was so little we were almost down to the road surface. We also did not make it to the view spot on the route. This time we had more snow (about two feet) but it was Cascade concrete so we opted for microspike rather then snowshoes. We also had better weather with sun by late morning. This time we made it to the view point for Mt. Hood and made that our turn around place. It was an easy hike at 4.8 miles and about 380 feet total gain. Afterward we went for pizza and beer at LuLu’s Pizza in Troutdale.
