I got out for a hike yesterday with Jeanette and Audrey. We did my standard abandon trail route so they could the many lakes and meadows in Indian Heaven. I was surprise to find that there are still many ripe berries on the bushes. But the place is drying up fast. All of the lakes are the lowest I have seen and many small ponds have dried up. Big Meadow is already turning brown and patches of berry bushes have started put on their fall colors. There were still lots of frogs on the trail. The most interesting find was a pigmy owl sitting in a tree that hung around long enough to get a photo.
