This time out it was just Lori and I and we did a very scenic part of the Timberline Trail. This was a short hike of only a little over 5 miles round trip from Timberline Lodge to the edge of ZigZag Canyon and back. This part of Timberline Trail is right at timberline so you find yourself passing through old growth mountain hemlock and open area with views of Mt. Hood. Today at Timberline Lodge we were above the clouds and smoke so Hood was clear but we could not even see to the next range of mountain. By the time we got over to ZigZag Canyon clouds had come in we lost our view of Mt. Hood. It clear again by the time we got back to Timberline Lodge. Afterward we went to Hungry Hearth for beer and grub.
