We got for our first snowshoe of 2016. It actual my first snowshoe for this season and Lori and Dinah their first snowshoe into the backcountry. This was a short beginners route being only about 6 miles and 800 ft. total gain but a good way to start the snowshoe season. We had good snow conditions but we were stuck in low clouds all day so no views. This snowshoe starts at the Barlow snow park then heads south on the PCT. At a high point on the PCT you start heading off trail up hill to a summit view-point. A trail had already been pounded in to the summit. From there we plunged step down the backside back to the PCT. No one had done this route and off the PCT we saw no one. Once back on the PCT we headed back to the car to head off for pizza and beer.
