Went for an exploratory hike today with Dinah. Weather turned out way better than the forecast had called for. I had read several trail reports on how difficult the Elk Mt. Trail was and they were right. It really kicked my butt. We started out by missing the trail turn off and end up on the Wilson River Trail. We did a back track and found that the junction sign had been turned and that was what set us off in the wrong direction. After out couple of mile detour we got on the right trail and did a very steep climb to the summit.
